|I'm sitting on the back porch in the rain,
My bare feet playing in the pools below.
I watch the raindrops reach the pools, and then,
I watch them bounce and watch the ripples go.
I turn my head to face the falling rain
And let it wash away my frowns and cares
And let it dribble past my eyes again
to make me free to shed a silent tear.
I'm sitting on the back porch in the rain,
Writing songs to try to free my soul;
And raindrop-teardrops fill my poems when
I realise that I am all alone.
I recall, beneath the rain, so free,
A girl with me, so young and warm and true.
Oh won't you come and share the rain with me?
I want so much to share it all with you.
